On successful completion of a remarkable journey of 5 years since inception, Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC), a joint venture of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Uttar Pradesh celebrated its 5th Foundation Day on November 05, 2019 at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra at Sector-6, Noida. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Ritu Maheshwari, MD, NMRC & CEO Noida Authority and Shri Amit Chandra, IPS, Inspector General, PAC, Mrs. Kalpana Saxena IPS, Commandant of the 49th PAC Battalion, Shri Ram Mohan Singh, Dy. Commandant, 49th PAC Battalion, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, U.P., Shri P.D. Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC and senior officials from NMRC, DMRC, PAC and Noida Authority.
Addressing the eminent guests and the employees of the Corporation, Mrs. Ritu Maheshwari, Managing Director, NMRC dwelt at length upon the journey and progress of the Corporation which included the operations of the 29.7 km long Aqua Line metro service operations comprising of 21 metro stations starting from Sector 51 in Noida to Depot station in Greater Noida, the average ridership of which has increased on an approximate basis from 12,000 to 25,000 since inception and the city bus services operations of the Corporation under which 50 AC buses equipped with GPS system, panic buttons and CCTV cameras are currently running on 11 routes between Noida and Greater Noida, the ridership of which is approximately 10,000 passengers a day. In her address, Mrs. Maheshwari extended thanks to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for invaluable support right from construction of the metro corridor to the successful operations today. Further, Mrs. Maheshwari extended gratitude to the Central Government, State Government, Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and NCRPB for the financial support provided for the project and PAC for the outstanding security services rendered to the corporation and also acknowledged the contribution of Shri P.D. Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC, Shri Manoj Vajpayee, GM-Technical, NMRC, Officials of PAC, EX-MDs, NMRC and EX-CEOs Noida Authority for their significant role in accomplishment & smooth running of the aqua line metro project.
Mrs. Maheshwari highlighted upon the initiatives taken by the Corporation for making journey for the commuters a hassle free experience and the initiatives proposed by the Corporation few of which includes setting up of e-cycles zone at selective metro stations, electrical vehicle charging stations at metro station premises, QR based shopping at metro stations premises, launching of sector 51 metro stations and Pari Chowk metro station as Pink Stations, plastic crushing vending machine which has already been set up at sector 51 metro station to be installed at all stations of aqua line corridor. At the occasion, a documentary on NMRC was also played exhibiting the journey of the Corporation since inception which clearly depicted on how Noida Metro has made commutation a seamless experience for the commuters of Noida and Greater Noida in particular.
For rendering outstanding services to the Corporation, the selected employees of NMRC were bestowed by a MD award with Mr. Devvrat, Traffic Controller rewarded as the Metro Man of NMRC, Ms. Seema Shah, Station Controller as the Metro Woman of NMRC and Sector 51 Metro Station as the Best Cleaned/Maintained Metro Station of the aqua line metro corridor. Selected officers of PAC were also awarded for their outstanding performance. Further, Shri P.D. Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC and Commandant of 49th PAC Battalion Mrs. Kalpana Saxena, IPS were given special commendation certificate for their valuable contribution to the Corporation and a special award was also given to Shri V.P.S Komar, SO to MD. The guest and the audience also enjoyed cultural events organized at the venue which included melodious ghazal singing performances by the famous Hussain Bandhu, and Md. Vakil and traditional kathak dance performance by the disciple of Sushree Anu Sinha and other performances by the talented artists of Foundation for Krishna Kala and Education Society.
