NMRC CITY BUSES DISTRIBUTING FOOD FROM COMMUNITY KITCHENS TO THE NEEDY

Noida, April 06, 2020

In view of the current lockdown in the entire country, Mrs. Ritu Maheshwari, CEO (Noida Authority) and Managing Director (Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.) has opened Community Kitchens at five (05) locations in Noida where food is prepared, packed and distributed to the needy people. The distribution of the food packets is being done daily through NMRC’s Feeder Buses. NMRC has deployed 8 buses for this purpose to provide the food packets at various locations in Noida.

The Community Kitchens are located at:

  • Noida Jal Department, Harola, Noida
  • Community Centre, Mamoora
  • Community Centre, Sorkha, Zahidabad
  • Community Centre, Bhangel, Begumpur
  • Shani Mandir, Sector 14 A

This noble step has been taken up by MD / NMRC to ensure that no needy or poor person goes hungry in Noida. NMRC Feeder Buses have been deployed to carry the food packets and distribute it among the poor/needy/homeless persons in Noida.

These Community Kitchens have been functional since 28th March 2020 and will remain functional for the entire lockdown period. The distribution of food across the city is being completely managed by NMRC’s Feeder Buses. Distribution of food is done twice a day – in the morning and evening.

People can also call at these Community Kitchens and inform about locations where food material needs to be delivered or inform about people who are unable to collect the food packets. NMRC buses will also deliver at such locations/localities.

Officers and Staff from both Noida Authority and NMRC have been deployed at the Community Kitchens and Feeder Buses to take calls and help in preparing and distributing the food packets. More than 50, 000 people are benefiting daily from this initiative.
