Two Day Celebrations Markaqua Line’s Sucessful Completion Of One Year Of Commercial Operations

On 26th January, 2020, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will complete one remarkable & successful year of its commercial operations and to celebrate the first anniversary of commencement of the Aqua Line, NMRC had a two day celebration including Annual Sports Competition and a colourful cultural programme at its Depot in Greater Noida. Smt. Ritu Maheshwari, MD / NMRC and CEO / Noida Authority graced the celebrations with her presence. The Aqua Line was flagged off on 25th January 2019 by of Shri Yogi Aditya Nath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India and it began its commercial operations on 26th “January 2019.

In the past one year NMRC has grown from strength to strength and has been consistent in its commitment of providing a world class public transport for the residents of Noida and Greater Noida. That the people travelling between Delhi to Noida / Greater Noida and even between Noida and Greater Noida are enjoying the travelling experience of the Aqua Line and preferring it over other modes of transport is evident from the substantial increase in ridership over the months and positive and encouraging commuter feedback.

In order to celebrate this remarkable journey and to boost the morale of the NMRC employees, who have been instrumental in the success of NMRC, a sports competition was organized by NMRC on 24th January, 2020 (Friday) in which NMRC employees from various departments participated with great enthusiasm. The Annual Sports Competition included sporting events like 100 Meter Race, 400 Meter Race, Chess (Blitz), Table Tennis, Carrom, Discus Throw and Tug of War.

On the second day of the celebrations i.e. 25th January 2020 (Saturday) a cultural programme was organized by the in house talent of NMRC in which NMRC employees showcased their inner talent in various art forms like singing, dancing, acting, etc. Smt. Ritu Maheshwari graced the occasion with her presence and motivated the participants.

The winners of the Sports Competition were also given trophies and certificates by MD / NMRC and other guests and the participants of the cultural programme were also given certificates and award for their participation.

Ms. Ritu Maheshwari, Managing Director, NMRC and Shri P.D. Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC clearly described on the focus of NMRC which is commitment towards all round commuter satisfaction. They also highlighted upon the tremendous efforts that NMRC has made to ensure seamless commuter travel particularly with last mile connectivity initiatives undertaken by NMRC and how the upcoming metro lines would not only ease & simplify the lives of the residents of Noida & Greater Noida in the years to come but will also add to the beauty of these fastest growing cities. NMRC is confident that with implementation of planned initiatives, NMRC will be able to attract more ridership.

ABOUT NOIDA METRO RAIL COPORATION LIMITED

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) was incorporated on 05th November, 2014 under the Indian Companies Act, 2013 as a Government Company to provide a world class transport facility to the residents of Gautam Buddha Nagar district. NMRC is a joint venture of the Govt. of India (GoI) and Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP).

NMRC runs the metro rail operations of the Noida-Greater Noida Corridor and the city bus service operation on different routes in Noida and Greater Noida. NMRC has also taken various non-farebox initiatives which include co-branding of metro stations, film shooting on NMRC premises, advertisement rights on metro stations and inside trains etc.

METRO RAIL OPERATIONS

The present corridor is stretched over a length of 29.7 kms covering 21 stations commencing from Sector 51 station in Noida and reaching out till Depot station in Greater Noida.

The average daily ridership in January, 2020 (01.01.2020 to 20.01.2020) is 23,095. The Company witnessed a record ridership of 39, 451 commuters on 19th, September, 2019.

The average daily revenue in January, 2020 is INR 6.62 Lacs (01.01.2020 to 20.01.2020) and recorded highest ever earning of INR 11.97 Lacs on 19th September, 2019

Top 5 stations in terms ridership are Sector 51, Pari Chowk, NSEZ, Knowledge Park and Sector 142. Top 5 stations in terms of revenue are Sector 51, Pari Chowk, Sector 137, Knowledge Park and Sector 142.

CITY BUS SERVICE OPERATION

Presently 50 AC CNG Low floor buses are running on 11 routes between Noida and Greater Noida. The buses are equipped with GPS System, panic button, special facility for women and specially abled with installed CCTV Cameras. The buses are monitored by UPSRTC. Approximately 10,000 passengers avail the services of city bus on daily basis. The minimum fare is INR 11 and the maximum fare is INR 51.

  • Co-Branding of 7 Stations and tender floated for 14 stations
  • Film Shooting on NMRC Premises- “Ginny weds Sunny” in October, 2019
  • License awarded for Commercial Space at Sector 51 and Sector 137 Metro Stations and tender floated for Sector 101, 81 & 83 Metro Stations
  • Award of advertisement rights inside trains including train wrapping
  • Launch of E-cycles at Metro Stations
  • Feeder Bus Service on different routes of Noida & Greater Noida
  • Paid e-rickshaw services at different metro stations
  • Free-e rickshaw service between sector 51 Metro Station of aqua line and sector 52 of blue line

  • Training center for training of PAC Personnel(s) and O&M Staff of NMRC
  • Kendriya Bhandar for NMRC Staff and General Public at NMRC Staff Quarter

BUSINESS EXPANSION

In order to provide seamless connectivity to the commuters of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Noida Extension, NMRC has proposed 3 new metro corridors

  • Sector – 71 to Knowledge Park – V corridor (14.958 Km with 09 Stations) to be developed in two phases. (DPR approved by U.P. state cabinet on 03.12.2019).
  • Sector – 142 to Botanical Garden corridor (DPR under revision)
  • Depot Station to Boraki corridor (DPR to be prepared)
