Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (NMRC) today conducted a Mock Drill at Sector 51 Metro Station to check and assess NMRC’s preparedness for beginning Metro operations after receiving the necessary directions of the Government of India.
The Mock Drill was supervised by Mr. R. K. Saxena, Chief Operating Officer (NMRC), Mr. Manoj Vajpayee, General Manager / Technical (NMRC) and Shri R. M. Singh, Dy. Commandant (PAC) and was attended by Deputy Heads of Departments of NMRC, Station Managers and other station staff, contractual staff, members from the security team of PAC and other senior officers and staff from NMRC.
The NMRC team carried out the entire drill from the entry point of the stations. Special markings have been done at the entry points and frisking areas to ensure social distancing among passengers who are entering the Metro stations and going through security checks..
A special Screening Team has been deployed at the entry points to screen the passengers for body temperature (through thermal scanning), face masks and checking the Aarogya Setu App status. Passengers with body temperature more than 37.7 degree centigrade, without face masks or without “safe status” in Aarogya Setu App will not be allowed entry inside the stations by the screening team.
The screening team also advised the passengers without a Smart phone to call the number 1921 and answer the questions asked and they will be allowed entry only after receiving the “safe status” message. Passengers will also be provided with hand sanitisers during entry inside the stations and at the frisking points.
Besides enforcing all above measures during the Mock Drill, NMRC staff also ensured social distancing inside the stations, especially near the TOM counters, AFC gates and the Platform by advising passengers to stand on the markings on the floor.
NMRC staff also braced themselves to face any kind of emergency in case of a suspected Covid 19 passenger. The staff at the stations has been provided with the necessary helpline and medical assistance / ambulance. During the drill the NMRC staff practiced handling a suspected Covid 19 passenger.
All the NMRC staff, especially those directly involved in public dealing have been provided masks and gloves.PPE kits have also been provided at the stations for staff members who have to handle a suspected Covid 19 passenger.
The trains and stations were also sanitized during the drill. The “touch points” at the stations and inside the trains will be sanitized more frequently. Seating inside the trains was also monitored by NMRC staff and passengers were requested to not sit on the seats with stickers to follow social distancing. Crowd management at the platform was also ensured by the NMRC staff.
In the Mock Drill the NMRC team ensured the compliance of all the guidelines issued by NMRC in dealing with commuters and ensuring a safe and comfortable journey to the passengers. The Mock Drill also instilled confidence in the NMRC staff, especially those deployed at the stations that they can safely screen and provide all the necessary assistance to the passengers and deal with any kind of emergency as and when required.
